Telework

Printable View

Telework is the performance of official duties at a location other than the traditional office. The work may be performed at another government location, a GSA Telework Center, or at the employee’s home. In the Department of Commerce, a written telework application & agreement form, a telework assessment tool, and a safety checklist of the alternative office must be completed prior to an employee working away from the traditional office. A termination form must be completed when management or an employee terminates the telework agreement. Each bureau and operating unit has its own policy and procedural instructions on telework. See the Departmental policy.

Telework cannot be used as a substitute for day care arrangements.

Telework options in the Department of Commerce are either regularly scheduled (a specific number of days per week or pay period) or intermittent (for a specified period of time to complete a project or due to other temporary circumstances).

To find out your telework options, talk to your supervisor, your bureau telework coordinator, or your servicing human resources office.
