This position is a trainee position designed to provide training in the techniques and processes of biological technician work.
II. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in collecting, sorting and organizing samples. Learns simple and repetitive duties in support of a research study.
Maintains and cleans glassware, equipment and work areas.
II. FACTOR LEVELS
Factor 1 - Knowledge Required by the Position. FL 1-2, 200 pts
Knowledge of simple, basic procedures associated with aid duties to perform routine tasks and learn to perform a wider range of duties. Knowledge of basic or common cleaning and sterilization procedures.
Factor 2 - Supervisory Controls. FL 2-1, 25 pts
Work is assigned by supervisor or higher graded technician with specific tasks outlined, and clear, detailed instructions on how to proceed with the work. Work is closely reviewed for accuracy and completeness.
Factor 3 - Guidelines. FL 3-1, 25 pts
Detailed instructions, sample formats and specific guidance are provided. Incumbent may not deviate from established guides.
Factor 4 - Complexity. FL 4-1, 25 pts
Work is clear cut and relatively simple. There is little choice in deciding what work to do next.
Factor 5 - Scope and Effect. FL 5-1, 25 pts
The work involves routine tasks which effect the work of higher graded employees in the work unit.

Contacts are with co-workers in the immediate area.
