Herbert C. Hoover Building (HCHB) - Swing Space

Herbert C. Hoover Building (HCHB) – Swing Space

The HCHB Renovation Project is planned in eight phases and will be completed in 2021. The building will remain fully occupied throughout the project. Instead of relocating staff to another building during the renovation, the Department and General Services Administration (GSA) made a significant investment to develop a swing space for offices undergoing construction.

The swing space is located on Floors A, C, D and portion of the first floor of the HCHB – an area within Courtyard 6 at the north end of the building (between the 6th and 7th corridors). It is accessible via the center elevator bank on the 6th corridor.

At the beginning of each phase, the Operating Units scheduled for renovation will be relocated to the swing space for approximately 18 months. In most cases, when each phase is complete, they will leave the swing space and return to their original location.

The focus of the Departments’ safety program is accident prevention. This is done through proactive identification of hazards and eliminating them before an accident occurs. Below are documents about the move and information to provide a safe transition in-and-out of the HCHB swing space.
