Veterans

The Department of Commerce's Veteran Employment Council is committed to increasing the employment of non-disabled and disabled veterans throughout the Department.

In addition, the Department continues to forge partnerships with other federal government agencies, veterans service organizations, colleges, universities, and other institutions that have veterans as members, students, or affiliates.

Vision

We are committed to attracting and hiring veterans who have served and sacrificed in defense of our country, as well as trained to perform needed services in mission-critical and mission-support occupations.

Mission

Our mission is to attract, recruit, and promote meaningful employment opportunities for veterans and their families and encourage their integration into the DOC workforce nationwide through effective training, career development, and promotional opportunities.

About Us

On November 9, 2009, President Barack Obama signed Executive Order 13518, Employment of Veterans in the Federal Government, which established the Veterans Employment Initiative. The Department of Commerce's Veteran Employment Council and this webpage are a direct result of the executive order. We hope you continue to visit us in the coming weeks and months as we expand this page to include new features, updates on the progress of the initiative, and additional resources.
